Green Buildings

The word "green" is used more frequently by the construction and real estate developers.  Some individuals are not concerned about the environment, but to others, it is the beginning of the nationwide attempt to preserve, recycle and eliminate the unnecessary waste of our natural resources.

LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is committed to make sure that each building meets the environmental standards but to also include the impact it will have on the community.  Several contractors, developers, and realtors have taken the LEED exam to obtain the LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification.
LEED certified projects leave a lasting impression on the community and hopefully will encourage others to follow suit.
Energy Star is another rating program that some builders use.  Energy Star and LEED compliment each other.  Energy Star is primarily energy usage rating while LEED looks at the site, indoors, water, materials usage and design.
For more information go to your favorite search engine website and enter; green, green buildings, Energy Star.  You will be able to locate local companies that construct homes that use Energy Star ratings.
