Digital Schedule Boards replace ubiquitous, giant dry-erase schedule boards with digital displays.  It connects to pre-and post-operative departments and even waiting rooms.   "They operate like arrival and departure boards at an airport" according to Gilbert Ritchie, PhD.  "Instead of a flight number, staff follow a case number".   Studies have demonstrated enhanced productivity with the digital scheduling system.

Telemedicine is advancing and will most likely impact required medical clinics over time.  Some innovations, such as Healthspot Stations out of Columbus, Ohio, offer "private" stations located in retail areas where you can be connected with a board certified physician that has you put your open mouth near a camera device to look into your throat from a remote location.  Different states have laws that protect the public from not having a quality evaluation for diagnosis and treatment with regards to telemedicine.
