The construction of the baseball Park is not the only project that has invaded downtown El Paso. A new pedestrian pathway will soon connect the El Paso Downtown Arts Disrtict with the Union Plaza Entertainment District.

The Convention Center North Pedestrian Pathway will take the place of a parking lot and maintenance paths on the northern side of the Convention Center. The project also includes enhancements to Durango Street from San Antonio Avenue to the baseball stadium site and portions of Main Drive and Sheldon Court near Arts Festival Plaza.
Construction will include shade structures, stamped and colored concrete pathways, expanded sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, street furnishings, public art, and gathering places.”
Construction was scheduled to begin this month. The project’s contract was awarded to Quantum Engineering Consultants of El Paso and will be paid for using 2012 Quality of Life bonds.
This particular area is currently attracting many businesses and investors looking to renovate and develop historic buildings. As soon as the announcement was made that the $50 million ballpark was approved by city council, the interest to work and live in this area has become a hot topic.
