I have lost count of how many times I have heard that comment over the past 30
plus years of living here. And maybe, in the past, you might have been
hard-pressed to come up with more than a couple of ideas worth pursuing. But
These past few weeks I was asked to help host
a couple of visits for prospective candidates for different higher paying
job opportunities in El Paso. As a side note, there seems to be a
lot more of these positions available than ever before!
My role is generally to show a variety of housing opportunities (we are slowing
"getting there") and to generally sell the Quality of Life in El
Paso. The employer is tasked with selling the job opportunity itself.
It's a game plan that has generally worked well over the past few years.
In preparing for these visits I was pleased at how much easier my portion of
the task is getting.
On November 6, 2012, voters in the City of El Paso approved all three
propositions included in the 2012 Quality of Life Bond, making it the largest
bond passed in the City’s history at $473,250,000. The propositions passed with
one of the largest voting margins for similar bonds across the
nation. The bonds
include improvements for parks and recreation facilities open space,
libraries, museums, the Zoo, neighborhood improvements, and cultural and
performing arts facilities all over El Paso. Soon neighborhoods throughout the area
will start seeing improvements in their individual quality of life. I think it will be interesting to see how individual
neighborhoods take shape and look forward to rediscovering how eclectic El Paso
has become. Michael Bray, ABR, AHWD, CSP, eCertified, GRI, TAHS 2010 Texas REALTOR®
