There are many reasons why one would want to know the answer to this question.  Acquisition, divorce and retirement are just a few.   According to Dennis G Murray, MA, an accurate appraisal takes into account the accounts receivable as well as the physical assets of the practice  These assets include the diagnostic equipment, computer equipment, capital improvements, phone number, furniture.  Intangible assets such as location, payer mix, contracts and employee talent are included.  Goodwill is "the practitioners ability to generate referrals"(professional component) and the EHR and number of patient charts (practice component).
You need a professional experienced in assessing the value of medical businesses and practices specifically.  The appraiser will examine the income that the practice has generated over the last three to five years.  Real estate is appraised separately from the practice assets.
